Maui – Island Paradise
We spent 10 warm days in Hawaii. It was a lovely escape of the cold, northern Alberta winter. Of course, the week (and a bit) that we were away was when mother nature decided to Chinook at home so we likely missed the warmest week of the whole winter!! I guess that’s Murphy’s Law.
I had a work conference, so spent a few mornings attending lectures. The rest of the time we hung out either at the pool or the beach. We took a day-trip to Pa’ia, and drove to the top of the Haleakala Crater (which I am pretty sure was colder than Grande Prairie that day!). We went south to Big Beach and marvelled at the waves. We wandered around Kihei and Lahaina. We had a great time relaxing with friends and family.
Kaisa is all ready to get on the plane…jacket – check!, backpack – check!, shoes – check! and neck pillow – check! Now she just needs to convince the rest of us that it’s time to go!
Calais became a real fish on this trip. At the beginning of the week she got scared if we let go of her in the water, even with numerous flotation devices. By the end of the week she was jumping in herself and swimming the length of pool, with her water wings and no one around. Our very last day she perfected blowing bubbles underwater. Smile included!!
Calais wanted an ice cream cone the whole trip…she wanted to “lick” (insert licking face here) like LILO and stitch! Our very last day we stopped for gelato in Lahaina..Calais was in heaven!
Ready to hit the beach – cool shades and a princess bikini, what more could a girl need!
