Family Travel in South America

This continent has such incredible diversity, and is home to some of the most wondrous things in the world. From the penguins in Patagonia to the wild rainforest of the Amazon, the Blue-Footed Boobies in the Galapagos and the mystery of Macchu Picchu, there’s something for every level of adventurer. The amount of incredible scenery and outdoor activities makes it ideal for kids.

We’ve been lucky enough to spend a fair amount of time with our kids in South America, visiting 8 of the 13 countries so far. Our first time in South America was during our family gap year when we visited the Western half of the continent from Ecuador to Chile. We returned just over a year later to explore the lesser-visited Guyanas and see South America off the beaten path.
