Nicaragua is a backpacker's paradise, it's cheap and easy to travel. Is it a kid-friendly destination? I'm undecided! The surf on the West Coast makes the ocean a bit questionable for kids, but the rest of the country seems like it would be lots of fun!

I had big plans to visit Nicaragua as part of the Central American leg of our rtw trip. We were excited to explore Blue Fields, Greytown and the Caribbean coast well off the beaten path. However, life intervened and we had to skip it due to civil unrest. It just wasn't safe to travel there at the time. Now...I'm impatiently waiting until it's safe enough and we can go back!
