Just had to jump on this trend…I’m pretty sure it Just had to jump on this trend…I’m pretty sure it was made for overlanders (and it’s not even an exaggeration!) Gimli’s original purchase price was about €20k ($30,000CAD at the time) and it seemed like a great deal! By the time we paid for shipping, import fees, container fees and an exorbitant ‘car wash’ at the Montreal port, it had cost us about $50k CAD by the time it ended up at our door. Add conversion to that; AluCab roof, body work, tires, suspension, interior cabinetry, new seats, roamerdrive, sil tanks, and SO much more…and we’re well over $100k. Some may think this is crazy. But to us it’s worth every penny. Did you know Greece has an entrance to the underwo Did you know Greece has an entrance to the underworld? 👇 Our last 3 days in Greece took us somewhere ancient, somewhere impossible, and somewhere that felt completely untouched. Thermopylae. Meteora. Sithonia Cape. And the best part? We wild camped the whole way. Falling asleep under the stars with nothing but cliffs, coastline and 3,000 years of history around us. No hotels. No crowds. Just Greece the way it was meant to be seen. 10 months at home was lovely on so many levels. An 10 months at home was lovely on so many levels. And we were all getting some itchy feet towards the end! Plus, ‘at home’ still included trips to Montana, Orlando, Utah, Calgary, Trail and many weeks skiing in Sun Peaks. After 10 months at 🏠 in 🇨🇦 we’re headed back to Gi After 10 months at 🏠 in 🇨🇦 we’re headed back to Gimli! We’ve moved, then moved again. Reno’d 2/3 floors of our 1980’s fixer upper. Spent loads of time skiing ⛷️ and enjoying our place in Sun Peaks (Randy had 48 ski days!). Finally took Kacela’s 11th birthday trip to Orlando (just a few years late 🫣). Visited family. And spent ALL the time hanging out with friends. #whereistheworld #overlandfamily #defenderadventure #vanlifeeurope #overlandlife The (newly renovated) house is packed up and ready for its first AirBnb guests. And now it’s time to get back to Gimli. We’ve only got 2 months, and we’re going to make the most of it. We’ll tick off our final European country (Cyprus 🇨🇾), spend time with friends in Barcelona 🇪🇸, and eat our way through Western Turkey 🇹🇷.
