We spent 22 hours crossing the border from Morocco We spent 22 hours crossing the border from Morocco to Mauritania.

We applies for eVisas in advance and had these printed to bring with us.

Morocco 10:51am - we had an initial passport check, then waited in a disorganized β€˜line’ at a window to have our passports stamped. Then the vehicle was X-rayed and we got a stamp on the little white paper they gave us when we arrived in Morocco. Customs still did a little look inside the back (after the Xray), then we waited for another random customs check before our passports were looked at one last time and we were finally sent into β€˜no man’s land at 12:35pm.

Mauritania 12:45pm - we had an initial passport check and they sent us straight to the building for the TIP, foregoing the vehicle search. We spent an hour getting our TIP because they put Bjorn’s Danish vehicle with Randy’s Canadian passport info!! It took awhile to sort it all our before we could finally move on.
By the time we got to the place to get our eVisas stamped (2:26pm) it was break time so we had to wait. Once they were finally stamped we took them to a different building for processing. We waited there for break time to finish too! Randy & Bjorn went to get the vehicle insurance while we waited and were back just in time to jump in with us for their visa approval. We paid €55 each and then went back to a different building for our passport stamps. This was complete chaos with a group of people crowding the door and passports piled up on a desk waiting for a stamp. We patiently waited, like good Canadians, and it got us nowhere. Finally I sent Randy up to the door and told him he needed to be pushy. Magically, within a few minutes, it was our turn! We finally got our passports stamped at 4:28pm!
There was one last stop to have the vehicle information written into a ledger, then we paid for road tax and had our passports checked one last time. And at 4:58pm we drove away from the border.
