Which one is better? The White City (Tetouan) or t Which one is better? The White City (Tetouan) or the Blue City (Chefchaouen)? Pics 1-7 are Tetouan Pics 8-12 are Chefchaouen Admittedly Chefchaouen might appear more charming, but we all preferred Tetouan. It felt more like an actual town and less like a tourist trap. While the Chefchaouen Medina was filled with souvenirs and people trying to lure you into a restaurant, Tetouan’s Medina was full of chickens, baked foods and second hand wares. There were locals living their lives rather than catering to tourists. It seems the most charming places lose some of their charm because the people are pushed out to make way for tourists, guesthouses, restaurants, souvenir shops, etc. Daily life still exists but it exists somewhere else. Not in Tetouan. Daily life still happens within this UNESCO Medina much like it has for centuries. That’s the charm. A little glimpse into the daily life and culture of the place we’re visiting rather than just a pretty backdrop for photos. We made it to Morocco 🇲🇦 The DFDS (ferry) websit We made it to Morocco 🇲🇦 The DFDS (ferry) website said 30min….but it was actually a 90 min ferry ride. And we went back in time 2 hours (which threw us off a bit!) 🛃 We got our passports stamped in on the ferry and then had a quick bite to eat before sure we heard that it could take 3+ hours to get through customs! From the time we docked until we drove away from the port, we were just under an hour! 🩻 We were one of the last ones off the ferry and ended up in the last batch of x-rays. It only took a few minutes because there were only 3 vehicles. 🛃 We drove straight to a customs agent. He asked Randy if he had a drone or anything to declare. Then glanced inside the back 2 cabinets and sent us on our way. 🚙 Insurance took a couple minutes, and was €98 for 30 days (and we needed to pay with Euro cash) 💵 I tried to take money out from the atm but was looking for one with no fee (which doesn’t exist!). BMCI has the lowest fee % and the largest max (8000 dirham), which I later learned in Chefchaouen! And then we headed for our first night in Africa 😍 #moroccotrip #ferryride #travelmorocco #overlandtravel #defenderadventure
