Is this the most underrated country in Europe? W Is this the most underrated country in Europe?

We think so. And there’s so much we didn’t see!

From the charming cities, to quaint villages, UNESCO sites, Soviet monuments, wineries, beaches and hot springs. Bulgaria has a little bit of everything!

Have you been to Bulgaria? Do you agree that it’s underrated?

Do you know what country this is? We were shocked Do you know what country this is?

We were shocked nobody’s talking about it. We think it’s the most underrated country in Europe. And there were so many things we missed. Just another reason to go back.

Is Bulgaria 🇧🇬 on your bucket list? It should be!

Did we make the right choice? The sites in TĂĽrkiy Did we make the right choice?

The sites in Türkiye have been way more expensive than I expected. Mainly because there’s no student pricing so we’re paying for FOUR adults 🤑

We spent €27 per person to visit Troy, which was a let down. The excavation looks like someone went in with an excavator and just started digging up big chunks of stuff. Plus there’s really nothing that’s been restored and the museum was a complete cluster (no rhyme or reason to why anything was anywhere!).

Then we spent €40x4 the next day to visit Ephesus. Which, hands down, absolutely worth it. It’s laid out well, the restored Library facade is absolutely incredible and some of the floor mosaics are stunning. SO much better than Troy (and also WAY busier because of this!).

And then the next day we went to Pamukkale, mainly to swim in Cleopatra’s Pool. Cuz how can you pass you swimming in a hot spring that’s literally on top of and around ancient ruins! When we got there we were told that the pool was closed for restoration. So we paused for a minute and tried to decide if we wanted to spend €30/person to walk down the limestone cliffs with hoards of other people and water in only a few of the pools. Ultimately we decided not to.

Instead we grabbed a cup of çay with a view of the cliffs, and then carried on.

I think we’re all pretty comfortable with our decision but I’m wondering if we made a mistake in skipping it?
