Diama Border Crossing Mauritania 🇲🇷 —> Senegal 🇸🇳 Diama Border Crossing Mauritania 🇲🇷 —> Senegal 🇸🇳

We took the newly paved road, turning off at the big sign that said “Port N’Diago”. The tarmac was excellent and we saw a monkey, warthogs and thousands of flamingoes!

We spent a quiet night on the beach before leaving early to head down the muddy road towards the border. We multiplied from 2 families to 3!!

We paid 200mru per person National Park fee & 100mru per vehicle community road tax before getting to the border. The drive was actually lovely. We saw lots of wildlife, including warthogs, so many birds, and a dung beetle! I was surprised how many other vehicles passed us on the tiny track!

Border logistics:
1 - Bring driver’s passport, TIP & Vehicle registration to office “Douane” to get vehicle stamped out in passport.the officer asked for money but we didn’t pay. We changed our leftover Ougiuya to CFA with someone who came to the vehicle. The rate was poor so we didn’t change anything else.
2 - wait to go through barrier (only a few min)
3 - get passports stamped out of Mauritania. The official came and took our passport, entry visa and registration paper (carte gris). Randy followed…and then we waited!!
4 - once stamped out we crossed the bridge. Then paid 4000cfa at the window on the right.
5 - park on the right before ‘DPAF - Poste de Diana’ building. Get passport stamped in.
6 - Drive across the street to the ‘Bureau des Douanes de Diama’ to get passavant (5000cfa). Typically it’s 48 hrs but can ask for longer!
7 - Bought insurance from a guy here. $65 for 3mo. Then has to pay 1000 cfa for road tax.
