Did you know you can take your vehicle from Türkiy Did you know you can take your vehicle from Türkiye to Northern Cyprus by ferry? 🚢 We did it in Gimli — and we were the only foreign vehicle on the boat. Here’s everything you need to know. 👇 🗺️ The route: Tasucu (Türkiye) → Girne (Northern Cyprus) with Akgunlar Ferries. The crossing takes around 2.5 hours and the staff are genuinely helpful — which you’ll appreciate when you’re trying to get an overloaded Defender up a ferry ramp. 💰 Cost: Around $600 CAD each way for vehicle including 4 passengers. 🇹🇷 Before you leave Türkiye: When you check your vehicle out of Turkish customs they will check for any outstanding toll charges or traffic fines registered to your vehicle before they let you leave. Make sure these are paid and cleared before you get to the port (you can do this online). ⛴️ Boarding: Beautifully, gloriously chaotic. And if you’re in a heavy overlanding vehicle — be warned. Gimli was too heavy for the 3T ferry ramp. We had to unload most of our gear and carry it up the ramp by hand, while other cars were loading and people were walking in all directions. Luckily the crew were happy to jump in and help us! It was fine. It was also one of the randomest experiences. Bring patience and a sense of humour. 😂 If the vehicle is taller than 2.3m OR can’t be unloaded and made lighter than 3tonnes, the RoRo ferry is the only option. It’s much slower and travels overnight. 🛃 Arriving into Northern Cyprus: Far more straightforward than we expected. Here’s what happens: - You’ll be asked whether you want your passport or a separate piece of paper stamped. Choose the paper. This keeps your passport clean for future EU entry - Pay for your Ordino — this is your vehicle’s shipping document from the ferry company - Buy local vehicle insurance — you’ll need this, your existing policy won’t cover Northern Cyprus - Complete your customs documents for the vehicle (and then put them in a safe place. Don’t lose this!!!) - Then drive on through…on the left. Yes, in all of Cyprus they drive on the left!! #northerncyprus #overlanding #familytravel

Who knew it was this easy to get a custom wallet m Who knew it was this easy to get a custom wallet made in Türkiye?! Randy’s been using the same wallet for the past decade and he was SO sad when it broke right before we came back to Europe. So of course I went in a hunt to find a fabulous, hand crafted, leather wallet in Türkiye. My search sent me straight to @alloroleathercraft in Antalya. Randy found exactly what he wanted, but he didn’t love any of the available colours. ‘No problem!’ He chose the leather he liked the best and a few days later had his new, custom made wallet. These are the best kinds of souvenirs, especially when they’re even better than expected! Save this if you’re headed to Türkiye (there’s more than just wallets!!) #turkiye🇹🇷 #handmadeisbetter #roadtripeurope #overlandlife
