Border Crossing Senegal 🇸🇳 to Guinea-Bissau 🇬🇼 🗓 Border Crossing Senegal 🇸🇳 to Guinea-Bissau 🇬🇼 🗓️ Day 39 💲 25,000 CFA/person ($60 cad) 🛂 Mpak, Senegal ⏰ 45 min 💪 Easy The only thing we were worried about was needing 2 exit stamps in our Carnet (because we weren’t stamped out when we went to The Gambia). But…it was NO problem at all. Probably the easiest border crossing so far!! #overlandfamily #overlandlife #overlandafrica #africaoverland #bordercrossing
First time seeing chimpanzees in the wild!! Okay, First time seeing chimpanzees in the wild!! Okay, so they’re mostly wild 😜 Chimpanzees were found in the Gambia until the early twentieth century when they disappeared mainly due to deforestation and hunting. The ones in the national park now are rehabilitated chimps, taken mainly from the pet trade or those orphaned from hunting (in neighbouring countries). They live independently, but they do get fed every evening by the rangers (which is why they were all waiting by the river and we got such a good view of them!). This ensures they have a complete diet and helps prevent them from stripping the habitat since they live on isolated islands. This was a first for us and is one of the highlights so far!
