Once you’re on the road there are a lot of things you can do to ensure your travels go as smooth as possible. This doesn’t mean you need to plan out every second, or even follow an itinerary, you just need a good understanding of the destination along with some pre-trip research. For starters finding out what there is to do, where to find good food and family friendly places to stay. The proper gear is also important so that you are never stuck needing something that you don’t have. Check out my “Survival Guides for Flying” for advice on making flying as easy as possible. And check out my gear reviews, the un-guidebook guides to cities we have travelled to, and sample itineraries (for those of you who want to have an idea of where you are going when!) The best advice I can give you…don’t push it. Travel is just slower with kids. Enjoy it, and enjoy the different interactions you get with a city and the inhabitants because you are dragging kids along!
